Visit to Helena
So in between my training stuff and getting ready to move the office I had to drive Son#1 to Helena to visit Fort Harrison VA Center. Fun, fun.
I didn't think to plan ahead to go sight-seeing or visit with family while he did his thing but I will for the next visit at the end of March.
I drove around a bit before the appointment (because I drove the car we arrived over an hour early) and photographed the Knights of Columbus hall, the helicopter at the airport entrance and the Lewis and Clark County War Memorial. I had fun.
We ate at Ihop & brought home fried cheesecake for the Hubby & Son#2!

Send good thoughts
I discovered more slides!
They are not from Korea...but they are ones I can label without family help! I'm thinking they are 1975-ish!
I'm excited
Aren't you??

I got to spend the afternoon with one of my favorite local bloggers
We were attending a class together. It was very enlightening for me. I'm not sure how GeeGuy felt about it.
:)
I became a Notary Public as part of my current job. This class was a nice way to learn the ropes without too many rope burns!

Lunar Eclipse February 20, 2008
It was cool but after the first 10 minutes I got bored. LOL
I was lucky that I could see the entire thing through the office window.

Random thoughts
Fun fun
I really don't know what to do with myself. I am not the greatest cook and even though we have made an effort to eat out less I'm stumped as to what I want to eat. Son#2 is not much help with decisions.
I have started to watch more TV. I discovered TV sucks. The writers strike has not affected my satellite much but I think the overall quality of shows just sucks. I spend more time watching "Anthony Bordain; No Reservations" on the Travel channel. I am in love with Anthony. If I didn't think he was gay.... LOL- He is just fascinating to watch. Other cool shows are on BBCA- "You are what you eat", "How clean is your house", and "Ramsey's Kitchen nightmares". Wonderful characters!
The best part of this? I get to take myself out for Valentines Day!
So now I have to figure out how to sleep without him snoring in my ear.
lomo
A while back I purchased two lomography cameras (aka "toy cameras") and they are soooo much fun!
I went to develop the latest rolls and the funniest thing happened. The clerk (all of 18 years old) called me within minutes of dropping off the film. She said "there's something wrong with your camera". I asked her to explain and she said that the film must had gotten stuck or something because there are 4 images for each frame. I held my laughter and explained that the camera has four lens' and it is supposed to take four images for each frame.
When I hung up I just burst into a long laugh.

I'm Special!
What Classic Bombshell Are You? |
Marilyn Monroe You're more than just a '50s sex goddess. Your apparent vulnerability and innocence, in combination with an innate sensuality, has endeared you to the global consciousness. You will dominate the age of movie stars to become, without question, the most famous woman of this Century. Famous Quotes: "I knew I belonged to the public and to the world, not because I was talented or even beautiful, but because I had never belonged to anything or anyone else." "There was my name up in lights. I said, 'God, somebody's made a mistake.' But there it was, in lights. And I sat there and said, 'Remember, you're not a star.' Yet there it was up in lights." "I'm going to be a great movie star some day." |
How do you compare? Take this test! | Tests from Testriffic |
The last of the slides
I scanned just under 900 slides. I originally thought there would be much more but once I opened the boxes and sorted they dwindled.
It was a nice trip down memory lane with Mom and my sisters. A few cousins offered insight into a few photos from family gatherings at Gma & Gpa W's place.
Now I get to discard the blurry, out of focus & screwy slides. I see no point in keeping something that I cannot enjoy or even see.
I am now going to get more info on my dad's time in the air force.
My secret weapon
Why? you may ask.
Because my boobs are powerful!
- I can get my husband to give me anything I want (although I don't use this often)
- I know I got at least one job because of them (it didn't last long thank goodness)
- They fed 3 babies for severals months (most women have this power)
- They get talked to more than I do.... ROFLMFAO

We interupt
I recently reconnected with many friends from elementary through high school via several different social websites. Only one was not pleasant. It's funny though- I have spent so much of my time and energy working on my personal belief system and being a person I want to be that when attacked from left field by someone for something I knew nothing about it is hard to continue to project peace, happiness and calm.
So here is a personal note to LAB-R:
Your note will be filed under "giveashit" for when I feel I want to.
I have no recollection of the events happening while I was there and since I left shortly after...I don't really care.
Since you brought up karma maybe you should think about this- all your anger does not affect me- only you. The energy you put out is what comes back to you threefold.
Best wishes with your life and new family.

Daddy's girl
All four of my sisters and I like to think we were "Dad's Favorite" or a daddy's girl but I don't think he really had a favorite and the only one of us to really get all of his attention was sister #1.
I think this photo settled that argument.
I know my dad loved us all the same.

More scanning, more mystery
Growing up I heard the stories from my Dad about his life. Now I see that he left so much of it out.
He told us that he was on a boat during the Korean war but I have all these slides of Koreans and no boats! He never told me he went to NYC or Puerto Rico.
The box I am working on currently was labeled but when I started to scan I noticed the slides are all mixed up- now I have Glacier Park in with Alaska and Puerto Rico mixed with Korea!
He was not much of a talker as we got older and I think I miss that connection with him most.
So many stories that I didn't hear.
